Does a Component Cable transmit High Definition Video? - high definition rca great price for great product

Hello, I bought an HDTV. I want to be able to see my DVDs with higher resolution than standard RCA cables.

If the components (cable Y, Pb, Pr) signal from my DVD player up to my HDTV 480p definintion? Or you need a HDMI DVD player to a 480p signal to my TV to send?

I know that you have a standard DVD 480p, can not pass on a larger scale.

Basically, the cable is a component HD cable?

I want to commit, because the Wii HD cable seems that components used, but using the PS3 HDMI. I have so much and wants to ensure that definition, they are high, and my DVD.
